Benin City, the former capital of the ancient Benin Kingdom and the capital of present day Edo State, is a hub of tradition and cultural activities and a perfect example of how aspects of the life of Nigerians are governed by traditional rulers in different parts of the country despite the overwhelming influence of western civilization.
Igun Street, Benin Moat, Oba Palace and the Benin Museum are some tourists sites attractive to people who are interests in Benin arts works, Benin history and the Benin monarchy. For people who are interested in Benin cultural festivals, the highly publicized Igue Festival is the most famous.
Apart from Benin culture which revolves around the Benin monarchy, Nigeria has many attractive ethnic groups each with its own unique language, culture, history and location.
